This year Advent is so different for so many reasons for me. Some things have changed in our family circumstances; we belong to a wonderful new church, all of which has made my heart in a very different place this year. Also, something else happened this year, I publically proclaimed Christ to be my Savior and as part of that I’ve promised that God is in control of my life.
In a time, when life can seem so out of control and the to-do lists get longer and longer, I’ve decided that I have to make a choice about what is and what is not important. Spending time with family and friends important, whether or not the Christmas decorations are perfect not so important to me, so when someone asks if you want to do another thing like the work cookie exchange or something else, is it really important, is it something that God wants me to do?
We are instructed with a very important task this time of year, to show Christ’s love and let people know the true reason for the Christmas season not the number of presents under the tree, but the love that was poured onto everyone for future generations over 2000 years ago.
So, are we showing love or are we showing that we’ve lost the meaning of Christmas as well?
